Joint Health supplements in the USA are at its highest demand now, as more consumers are active, health-conscious, and pro-active about taking care of their well-being. Baby boomers as well as older folks know the importance of maintaining joint cartilage integrity and many hope to stave off the inevitable sore joints and inflammation due to normal aging.
Glucosamine has always been the most popular supplement for joint health care. Recently, Cargill Inc. ceased producing their Regenasure brand of glucosamine and a new raw material has taken the spotlight. NOW, the GreenGrown brand of glucosamine is stepping up as the only shellfish-free glucosamine available. NutraSense, a family owned Kansas business since 199,5 is proud to offer GreenGrown in the same formulation they sold Regenasure glucosamine.
“We are extremely fortunate to replace the Regenasure® raw material with the GreenGrown® brand glucosamine”. NutraSense is now fully stocked with the 1,000 ct bottles of Glucosamine-ES 750 mg made with GreenGrown®. Have you missed all this news? Well, GreenGrown® is almost identical to Regenasure in that it’s:
- Shellfish-free, allergen-free & vegetarian
- 750 mg veggie capsules, Non-GMO, and Clean Label compliant
- US Pharmaceutical-grade and Kosher certified
- Produced by corn fermentation, with a process protected by 21 patents in 12 countries
- Every batch tested for purity through a unique isotopic signature carbon tracing method
As we’ve always said – not all glucosamine is the same!! We can sincerely maintain this slogan with the new products. The Glucosamine Plus Chondroitin 90 caps is equally impressive, and we retain the formulation of 500 mg Gluc/400 mg Chondroitin per capsule. Check out our new labeling on the website, www.NutraSense.com!
NutraSense customers are health conscious and historically more savvy about ingredients than the average big-box buyer. Top quality, hand-chosen raw ingredients, purity and clean labels for all our supplements have always been priority. We proudly carry on this belief with the new glucosamines and hope you give them a try soon!
The Glucosamine market is robust and growing stronger due to the aging population and, thus, the rise of joint related ailments as this group becomes more active with a focus on healthier lifestyles. New scientific studies are plentiful covering the benefits of glucosamine supplementation, the top choice in the treatment of osteoarthritis to maintain healthy cartilage in joints and ease pain. The level at which our bodies naturally produce this substance decreases with age and results in joint deterioration.
Today there are more mega companies producing glucosamine, but only one U.S. Company manufactures a US-sourced vegetarian, shellfish-free & kosher ingredient. NutraSense manufactures its Glucosamine-Extra Strength™ with this Regenasure® brand of glucosamine from Cargill, and we have for 20 years!
Market analysists predict that shellfish-free glucosamine sales will dramatically increase as consumers become more aware of its benefits and also more health conscious about what they consume. Regenasure is GRAS status and FDA approved for food, beverages, and supplements. In my opinion, taking this in capsule form is best since its formulation is unaffected by the heat and pressure associated with tableting and food manufacturing.
Taking a pure, quality glucosamine supplement twice a day, either alone or in combination with chondroitin, is a smart choice for those of us with sore knees and joints who want to maintain joint integrity!
If you are among the nearly 20 percent of adults in the U.S. who suffer from knee and hip osteoarthritis, a new study may provide you a treatment option. A recent study in Germany supports the claim that Natural Eggshell Matrix (NEM) can reduce osteoarthritis pain in the knee and hip. NEM is a unique, all-natural egg protein matrix found between the egg albumin and the eggshell.
The 2-month open-label study was conducted between March and July 2012 at six different clinical sites throughout Germany to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of NEM for the relief of the pain and discomfort associated with osteoarthritis of the knee and/or hip. The study included 44 subjects, 27 females and 17 males between the ages of 32 and 95, who had moderate, persistent osteoarthritis of the knee, hip, ankle, knee and hip, or knee and ankle. All of the subjects completed baseline evaluations and were evaluated again at 10, 30, and 60 days using a short-form questionnaire. They were given 500 mg of NEM daily for the duration of the study. Swimsuit season will be here before we know it. As many of us are working harder to get into shape, it can really take a toll on our joints. Joint health products can be beneficial in easing joint pain and inflammation. Glucosamine and chondroitin combinations are the most popular due to their effectiveness. Glucosamine and chondroitin formulations have been around for a long time and have been studied more than most other supplements, but because some manufacturers have been cheapening the formulation, its reputation has been tarnished.
Glucosamine and chondroitin formulations continue to be the most popular and widely studied supplements for joint health, even with the introduction of other new products aimed at alleviating joint pain and inflammation. The National Institutes of Health conducted the Glucosamine/Chondroitin Arthritis Intervention Trial (GAIT), a large scale, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study, to examine the efficacy claims of joint health supplements using the standard combination of 1500 mg of glucosamine and 1200 mg of chondroitin. The study, the largest of its kind, showed positive results for this combination of glucosamine and chondroitin in providing relief of moderate to severe knee pain in patients with osteoarthritis. Glucosamine Plus Chondroitin from NutraSense carries the same formulation used in the study.
Due to the popularity of chondroitin products, demand for the raw materials has increased while supply has not. This has driven up the price. In response, some companies are substituting with sub-par ingredients, lowering the bar, or even worse, not claiming the label amount. Other companies are choosing to continue with the standard formulation and accepting smaller sales margins. NutraSense carries the same Chondropure chrondroitin sulfate used in the NIH study and stands behind the claim of the highest quality on the market.
In a recent blog for Natural Products Insider, author Weiguo Zhang said “It is my view that the industry should provide consumers with high-quality products based upon the classical joint health formulation of glucosamine hydrochloride and chondroitin sulfate with proven efficacy supported by the GAIT study. Worthy endeavors to look for alternative ingredients should be encouraged, but not at the expense of undermining consumer confidence in effectiveness of the widely used joint health supplements with chondroitin.”
Glucosamine Plus Chondroitin from NutraSense is the only glucosamine and chondroitin supplement of this high quality that is also made and sourced in the USA.

Osteoporosis and low bone density are real concerns as we age, as peak bone mass is reached between ages 20-30. After that, bone remodeling continues, but we lose more than we gain. NutraSense has a new calcium product, BONEhealth, featuring nature’s purest and most absorbable form of calcium – Eggshell Calcium (ESC®) with added vitamin D3 and magnesium.
Our bones not only provide structure, but they protect organs, anchor muscles and store calcium. Our bones are continuously changing and breaking down after we’ve reached peak mass. Several factors affect bone health and bone density, which include things like the amount of calcium in your diet, physical activity, tobacco and alcohol use which interfere with absorption; our gender & size, hormone levels, auto-immune diseases and eating disorders, and some medications. Several of these things can be controlled to help prevent bone loss, but some, like age, gender and frame-size cannot. Continue reading →
Winter is here. And, unfortunately, for many people that means winter joint pain, especially for those with osteoarthritis. The cold, damp weather affects joint fluid thickness and can increase joint stiffness and pain. Staying active, which helps keep joints lubricated, can also be harder in cold winter weather.
More than 400 million people are affected by joint and bone problems. Of people interviewed about chronic pain, two-thirds said they felt weather affected their pain. Most report being able to feel the changes even before the weather changed, often experiencing increased pain the day before a storm arrived. Continue reading →
